Delight and Plate is an online food services where we provide you with home cooked, and delicious food. Our aim is to provide not only delicious but healthy food to our customers. ‘We are here to delight you’ we will be providing for all the vegetarians and/or vegans out there. Our team is putting their time and efforts in this start up to get it successful. The main purpose of Delight and Plate is to serve our customers with variety of vegetarian food, which normally is not available.

  • Iqra Abbas: Managing Director/Circle Leader/ Chef

I’m Iqra Abbas, Managing Director of Delight and Plate. The idea is to provide delicious food to our vegetarian audience in Karachi.

We are a team of 8 people so, there are potentially 8 different areas of Karachi to explore, we have already done a food survey, and the results were not bad. We are hoping to spread this to students, offices, and hostels.

Nitesh: Executive

Being the initiator of the idea, and being a vegetarian myself I have faced this issue. I have been living in Karachi for my whole life but I have never been comfortable enough to order up from any online shop, because there’s a hindrance as well as there are no restaurants who would give up ‘chicken/ghost’ over veggies. There are many restaurants, and cafes but no one serves purely vegetarian food. So, I had this in my mind for a really long time, and I guess Amal gave just the right platform to test our prototype: Delight and Plate!

So having said that I personally felt the issue and in back of my mind I was already thinking about the implementation of this plan and just due to this mega project activity I learnt how to build the team, how to reach out to people and talk about different idea, how to sell your product, how to face people opinion and rejection regarding your product, how to really execute so it has been a quite challenging and amazing journey for me, I have learnt a lot. Financial aspects, marketing strategy, how to create pathway for team, how to tackle different aspects (questions and queries) being executive I really faced these all things yet love it.

I enjoyed doing this activity, First of all, that’s what I was thinking But now I began to do it in my life I started putting my ideas into action through this megaproject With the help of the megaproject My communication skill improved And I learn how to do business while understanding people’s emotions, Also, I learned how to work in a team Now I have learned to deal with the panic situations With the help of this project, I also saw myself becoming a leader short With the help of this project, I found my the way that How business is done in professionalism.

We decided to make our mega project on the idea of Food service, we are targeting the people who like to eat healthy greens, usually vegetarians or vegans because from the survey we took indicated that many vegetarians do not find good healthy food the way they like. In order to solve this problem, we decided to make homemade dishes for vegetarians. Deliverables that we decided to do for starting our mega project was deciding the name of our online shop, deciding delivery method and timings, making Facebook and Instagram pages, planning dishes (menu), calculating total investments and profits, branding by making logos, posters, promos, graphic designs and marketing. So far, we have achieved some of our target goals like we have decided our online shop name, made social media pages for it, started branding by making logo and posters, decided menu, delivery method, timings, calculated costs and profits, performed dish tasting and a survey from some the customers (got a positive response too), we have also conducted many team meetings to decide future steps and tasks. Some of the challenges we met till yet were finding a beneficial delivery method for food, team members’ consistency in project (some team members had a busy schedule and cannot attend in person meetings and discussions). Timing issue for customers order and the number of orders per day (as for more orders we would need more materials and time for cooking). We solved these problems by brainstorming ideas we decided to add a pickup option for customers and an option to order us beforehand (like orders for next day) and for delivering food we added delivery charges and contacted food-panda (we are still exploring best way of delivery), as for team meetings we decided to set one mutual time when everyone is free and decided to do online meetings to get things running.

As for future goals we have decided to extend this business to not only vegetarian (although it would be our main focus) audience but to non-vegetarians too.

As a team member I Muhammad Saad Najib contributed to our project by doing graphic designing and name deciding and further collaborating with team member’s brain storming ideas at in-person meetings.

Adina Zahid:

  • I’ve searched some of veg recipes such as Dosa, Potato Cutlet etc.
  • Have written some of the material for the ig content
  • Besides, I’ve also shared our business’s page in my circle and have asked them to place their orders and, if possible, share it’s link with their friends and acquaintances.

Zainab Shafiq:

Our Mega Project started with the idea generation. Some members thought to hit the education industry and some thought to hit the food industry. At last, all agreed to project our ideas relevant to the food. Food industry is quite simple yet complex because of the critics. Everyone has different taste bud. Thus, something which is delicious for me might be bad for someone else’s taste. Food is offered to its consumers in varieties ranging from fast food to starters. We decided to make our project unique. Thus, decided to go for vegetarian food items targeting to vegan audience. We conducted our surveys to gauge the interests of consumers in vegetarian food items. Majority of the respondents showed keen interest in buying the vegetarian food items offered to them.

Branding of the service is a key factor to market the service in such a way that consumers feel attached to it. We discussed numerous names for our business. At last, we came up with name as ‘ Delight and Plate’ with a tagline “Eat a Little More”. So, far to reach the potential customers’ Instagram page had been designed along with Facebook page. Till date we have 80+ followers on both the social media sites and hope to reach more customers through effective sharing of the posts within our inner and outer circle.

So far we are able to design posters, logo, and social media pages. We are looking forward to finalize our menu card and start our delivery process as soon as we will start getting orders.

M. Mazhar:

The project that we have started is a food business which is approachable to the people who are vegetarians. Food business is emerging to a new height in the city of Karachi so we as a team came to an idea about starting a venture that have many benefits. Initially it had many obstacles about deciding a name but we worked together, and got an attractive name. Delivery is also a new problem that needs to be addressed but we have big brains in our group, we all will sought something out.

The challenges that we faced were too many including the feedback portion that we roam around the city in the scorching sunlight but we got our the job done.

I had contributed to this project by socializing it on many social platforms.

Syed Ussama:

Our mega project is about to provide the home based vegetarian food to the peoples of Karachi. Because in Karachi there is no such restaurant that provide only vegetarian hygienic home cooked food. So we have decided to provide that. In this mega project what I have experienced is, how to work as a team, how to overcome problems, how to put in your ideas and take others ideas as well as come up with a productive decision that benefits the business. What I have contributed is to give the ideas related to, what is going to be the name of the business and we came up with the decision that our business would be named “DELIGHT AND PLATE”. I also gave advise of what should be the menu to my circle leader so, that it could be helpful for all of us to decide the best vegetarian food. menu.

We also faced problems so we make ROI and had done with the surveys so that we could find where are we lacking and what things should be done to make it better.
